January - Bible Bee Game Show and Butchering ChickensJanuary was a big month, as I had the privilege to be chosen for the Bible Bee Game Show, which was filmed at the KLRN and PBS station in San Antonio, Texas. Unfortunately, the whole family couldn't come, so Dad and I flew to San Antonio for the week. It was a great experience and I won't lie and say that it was all a breeze. It was a rather stressful week, as the whole family back home was sick and the competition aspect of the Game Show is pretty intense. Overall, all though it was an exciting week! Because I signed a non-disclosure paper, I can't tell you much about the Game Show itself or show pictures from it. However, I can show you a few pictures from the little bit of touring we did in downtown San Antonio and some of the staff people I got a picture with! WARNING: Real dead chickens in the following pictures. Don't worry, it's not that gross or graphic. If you have a problem with things like this than just scroll quickly down! :D February- Dad's Birthday, Valentine's Day and Lego Video!March- Mr. O's 15th Birthday, Mini Drive Thru Farmer's Market, Desert Botanical Garden, And Singing The National Anthem at a Ball Game!We had the wonderful opportunity to sing with our choir group at a ball game! We got to go right on the field and sing the National Anthem! Our choir director requested that we wear black and jean, to give a sort of casual feel. Here is all of us. (Sweet Sis didn't sing, she just wanted to be in the picture!) Stay tuned to see a recap of April, May and June!

I know this is cliche, but it's true: time flies. Time flies by faster than most people would like it to go. There is so much to do and only so much time. In saying that, because of time constraints I've had to put some things aside and one of those things was blogging. While I enjoy blogging, it just wasn't a high priority on my list of things to do. I apologize for that and am working on getting a least one blog post every week. Please stay tuned for the second My Life At A Glance post!
For His glory, ~Holly Happy Independence Day ya'll! I'm so glad that we still have freedom in this country! All praise to our great God! Hope y'all have a wonderful day! Below is a fun survey that I was nominated to fill out. Thanks Kate for the invite!
I'm sure many of you have been wondering what I've been up to the last several months. It's been crazy, but God has seen me through it all! Because there is so much that happened, I'm only going to highlight the biggest events that have happened. Without further ado, let me begin back in November 2015! November- Bible Bee NationalsAs many of you know, I qualified for Bible Bee Nationals, so my family and I traveled down to San Antonio, Texas for the event. When I think of Nationals, I can't help but thank God that He allowed me to go this time after hoping for six years that I would make it. Nationals was probably one of the most encouraging, uplifting and God-glorifying event I have ever been to! The fellowship with like minded believers was amazing! (Note: I wasn't able to get pictures of it, but my Mom won the Host of the Year award and was presented with a beautiful picture that is now hanging on our wall!) Here is are the pictures from that amazing trip! DecemberDecember was a busy month! 2nd Bro and Miss L. had been going to choir, so they had many performances throughout the month of December. We also had a piano recital, went to a Christmas party, baked cookies, decorated, celebrated Miss L.'s tenth birthday and enjoyed Christmas! January, February, and March up next!
Clinging to God's unfailing grace, Holly Sometimes we go through those days. You know the kind which everything goes exactly the opposite of what you were wanting it to go. Those kinds of days when your world is turned upside down and you're left feeling awful. On those days, you just want to run away and not have to face the many different feelings that come - feelings of self-pity, anger or bitterness. Where do you turn to? Recently, I had a day like that. When I finally got alone, I was reminded about something that I've heard several times. Tell God all about it. Tell Him what you think and how you're feeling. "Okay God," I said and I told Him how I was feeling and why. After spending sometime pouring out my heart to God, I felt way better. However, I was still disappointed about how the day went. Then God reminded me to look to the good things that happened that day, so I did. I found a lot to be grateful for - a smile, the beautiful scenery I saw outside, cooler weather, etc. Though they were small things, they were good things! I want to encourage you, that if your day doesn't seem to be going well, tell God about it. He knows how you feel! He loves you no matter how awful the day went. Then look for the good that happened that day, even if it's small. You then can avoid the feelings of self-pity, disappointment, etc. Your day will be much brighter afterwards! "It's a good day, because God is good. So that makes everyday a good day!" Have a great week! HollyThe window is open and the breeze is slightly blowing in. Birds are singing their songs and children playing can be heard in the background. I think I'll add some music to make it a more unique setting. Ahhh, Abiding Radio softly playing a song from the instrumental section. Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring to be exact. That completes the (nearly) perfect scene. To make the scene even more happier I recalled that I was actually able to understand my science this morning and got a good percent on my math! And had an awesome time with my buddies (a.k.a. siblings) playing a gentle game of Frisbee! What a joyful day it's been! But it all started with one thing that I did this morning. And that was to start with God first. Do you start your day with God first? Starting your day with God as the number one priority is the ultimate way to prepare oneself for the day. Not only can you face the trials that arise during the day better, but you can have true joy. As the well known acronym goes Jesus (first), Others (second), Yourself (last.) I was actually able to really experience that today!
I want to encourage you to do the same. Spend time in God's Word and praying. Perhaps, read a Psalm first before going to wherever you are reading. It sets the mood for praising our awesome God! It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night Psalm 92:1-2 NKJV What are some of your favorite passages that are good for praising God in the morning? Share them below! Holly I was tagged by my friend, Kate, over at The Sacrament of Living to do this fun, wintry themed, blog tag! Thanks Kate for tagging me! The rules for this challenge happen to be… 1- Use the same title and adorable picture (above.) 2- Answer the questions (of course!)
